Note to Forum Administrators: The below is said with the intention of trying to save this game because unfortunately Blizzard is letting the game die. If this post violates any rules, please feel free to delete it. However, I hope that it remains open since I think this will benefit the entire community and nothing in it is illegal.
------------ Hello all, So periodically I come and check the Diablo II General Discussion Forums (Or now this - classic games forum - since the merge) and I see people complaining about how USEast, West, and other realms have constant lag, ip/temp bans, and now with the dclone crashes. I fail to comprehend how people can keep complaining to Blizzard about these issues. Diablo II is a 17 year old game and it isn't really bringing Blizzard any revenue. It is understandable why they would dedicate more resources to their other products, plus, we can't really expect them to maintain Diablo II forever, and Blizzard has done more than enough for the Diablo II community.
I don't think any other company in the history of gaming has ever kept servers or even a minor patch going for a game this old. Single Player is the best place where a person can play Diablo II, the way it was meant to be played, and the way you want to play it. No always-online drm, no hacks, no ip/temp ban, no lag, just pure enjoyment.
On top of that, you get the following: - Static Maps - /players 8 - Infinite and Quick Muling via GoMule or ATMA - The ability to play ANY patch you want. There's a ton of people playing 1.00, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09d, 1.10s (YES the beta of 1.10), and of course 1.13d.
- Multiple d2 windows if you want to self multi without getting banned since it's single player after all (custom D2gfx.dll) - All the runewords unlocked in Single Player (via runeword mod, or Singling) - Extremely fast and efficient version switcher that lets you play any Diablo II version within seconds. No patching required if you use my Bundle Pack (Brings all the versions).
This is all legal and legit as long as you own a copy of Diablo II. You are entitled to play single player:). I've developed several enhancements, programs, and a nice mod that is specifically designed for you to play Single Player, and also for TCP/IP if you want to play multiplayer with your friends. Below are the links: Singling (Contains the Patch_D2.mpq that has all the ladder runewords unlocked for single player, the custom d2gfx.dll that lets you open up multiple diablo 2 windows, Mini-Images that allow you play any version of Diablo II from 1.00 to 1.11 without the CD): This is approved by the Diablo II IncGamers Single Player Forum: Use the above if you want to play a vanilla (well mostly vanilla since you have all the runewords unlocked) version of diablo II. I've been about the only dissenting voice regarding 'Fix Diablo II' when they really mean 'Fix its Battle.net aspect.'
There isn't a lot of content denied to someone on Single Player and three weeks after reset, it's pretty much people who want you to Grush their character so they can follow a bot for 50 levels, put on their botsuit and make their own CBaal games without actually having to be there playing. While the multiplayer aspect of D2 is a lot of fun, it's peculiar how it's become practically the ONLY aspect, and mostly for the purpose of PvP, where most of the item sites are still making their money. And really, it consists of a bunch of hasty last-minute nerfs and a list of house rules like 'no critical strike, knockback or anything else that exploits any weakness of my build!' With what seems to be a crowd of twelve-year olds who blame you generating lag when you win and being a noob when you don't.
10:29 AMPosted by Izlude, Single Player is as legitimate as you make it. You have full control of who you play with and your actions:).
Now, closed b.net is the place most people hacks. I tend to play Online in the Ladder and have friends join me in private games.
I do not see the point of use of needing mods to get what I can already get online. I also do not feel Blizzard is letting Diablo II die, I just think after 14 years, the game was a good success and is available to play online. If they wanted it to die, or was going to LET it die, they would take the servers offline. Heck, even diablo I still has online play with battle.net I don't know ANY other game company that still has a game as old as diablo and still hosts a server for online play. So while our opinions may differ, I look at the facts I notice around me. Watch 2017 Hd John Wick: Chapter 2 Online. I still see support forums, they still have a general discussion forum (which just went through a merge) so it kinda shows they still pay attention, just not the attention you want. *shurg* I don't know what else to say honestly.
