Free Program Tokimeki Memorial English Patch

Tokimeki Restaurant Episode 1

I'm impressed that you created an ending patch, Mijae. If I recall correctly, at least two attempts have been made to translate Tokimemo for Super Famicom. One group managed to create a patch that translated a few of the game's first menus.

Early in 2010, Jjjewel on the gbatemp.net forums started a fan translation of Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side for the DS. It was finished and debugged by the end of the year. Likewise, Phoenixgoddess on the same forum managed to finish and debug the second Girl's Side DS game in about a year's time.

Xhun Audio Iron Axe V1 2 1 R2r Dac. Very sweet, glad to hear someone's been making progress and still interested in this game translation! I worked on a Tokimeki Memorial SNES translation a LOOONG time ago (back in 2001 maybe?).

I managed to get a variable width font in place, and got some basic script insertion working. But the dialogue script was really enormous (especially compared to other games), and I never found anyone willing to tackle the whole thing that progress was pretty much halted at that point.

Then I fell out of the romhacking scene shortly after that. If you're interested I can try to dig up my old files in case they might be of any help. (oh, sorry for the 'necro'- I haven't visited the forums in a LONG time). Do you already have all the stuff that might be helpful to look at, like the working VWF hack, all of the in-progress translation files, and whatever insertion program I'd hacked together way long ago (probably some QBasic mess)? From what I remember, most of the dialog-translation part was already pretty much sorted out, the only remaining big piece left to do (aside from getting the script translation finished) was figuring out if expanding the ROM to fit more text would be possible. VWF: I don’t know.

On cursory inspection, it seems not all of that is there. In-progress translation files: Yes. Sparsely commented / compiled QB nightmares: Yes!

I don’t really handle the hacking end of things (maybe that looks bad as a CS student, but I just don’t like looking at code I didn’t write), so I’m not too sure about the ROM expansion. Were I implementing this on the SNES, I would break down and resort to. Me, I’m working through the script of other ports. The SNES version has proven quite resilient to effort.
