I just bought a new dell studio 1555 and it has windows 7 64 bit pre installed. My software is Solid Works 08 Office pro. When I tried to install it 'after an hour of loading' I get a popup saying it needs 32 bit then closes the install. Is there a way to make win7 run in 32 bit compatibility mode? Or does anybody have a way to force it to run on 64 bit? This is agrevating since my Alibre Expert runs fine but I prefer solid works.Is there not a 64bit version of solidworks '08? I went from '07 to 2010, and there was a 32bit disc and 64bit disc.
If all else fails you can run Windows 7 in XP mode. WOW, Screwed by Micronazi again! When I went to download the xp module it told me I have to buy the upgrade to expert before I can get it. You bought a PC with 64 bit Windows and your 32 bit program won't run on it (a known potential issue with 64 bit Windows) so it's their fault? Sounds like Dassault screwed you by not making their 32 bit software compatible with a 64 bit OS. BTW some research suggests that you can get XP Mode to run on Home Edition. Sounds like Dassault screwed you by not making their 32 bit software compatible with a 64 bit OS. Actualy, I got screwed all the way around. First, Dell doesnt sell anything still running XP, Some of the hardware that I liked on the new 1555 laptop requires 64 bit like the Blueray player, the SDMI 1080p Output, ect. Dassault wants another price for the 64 bit version. And on top of that I probably have 2 days of installing software before I found out SW doesnt work. Featurecam 08-09 and 2010, Alibre, Surfcam, Machinist calculator, Machinist toolbox, Open office, and a few more. Then setting them all up the way I like.
